How do I meet women in Dubai
Nightlife in Dubai: You shouldn't miss these parties
For you, the cocktail in the evening is simply part of it and therefore you have concerns about going on vacation to Dubai? You are not alone in this. Many still have the image of a conservative country in mind, in which no alcohol is served and where holidaymakers have to expect some restrictions. My colleagues and I checked on the spot whether this rumor was true. A small spoiler in advance: In Dubai you can party until you drop! I'll tell you about my favorite locations in this post.
Alcohol sales and consumption in Dubai: you should pay attention to this
Anyone who thinks that you can't drink alcohol in Dubai is far from it. Although it is forbidden to drink alcohol in public in the United Arab Emirates, there are still ways and means to drink one or two good drops. However, you should really refrain from doing so in public, otherwise you could be arrested in the worst case scenario. Also obviously drunk - even without a drink in hand - you should definitely avoid walking through the streets on your vacation in Dubai!
Since alcohol is forbidden in the Koran, the religious emiratis do not drink. Nevertheless, bottles of wine or liquor are sold in special shops and in the duty free shops at the airport. For this, however, you officially need a shopping license, which you have to apply for and which confirms that you are not a Muslim. However, the application takes a little longer and is not worthwhile for a short vacation. However, we were never asked about it on site.
Simone and Lisa in the PURE Sky Lounge
Those who like to buy alcohol for their local bar on vacation can do so in Dubai. Although alcohol is more expensive in the shops in the city than here, there are similarly good offers in the duty free shops at the airport as in Europe. Before you fall into a shopping frenzy: You are only allowed to import two liters of wine and two liters of spirits duty-free - so think carefully about which good drops you want to bring with you from your vacation.
During Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims, you should be even more careful not to drink alcohol in public. Each hotel can decide for itself whether alcohol is served in the hotels. Most of them, however, offer the usual range of drinks and make no exceptions. However, if you want to be on the safe side, you should inform yourself in advance at the hotel or the tour operator.
Partying in Dubai: the best places to dive into the nightlife
In Dubai only the hotels have alcohol licenses. Unlike here, where the hotel bars are only visited by tourists, residents also meet here in Dubai to celebrate. Many hotels have made use of this unique selling point and operate hip nightclubs, relaxed lounges or rustic pubs at the same time. With the right knowledge of where the best parties take place, everyone can find the right party location for themselves.
Since a well-groomed appearance is very important in Dubai, you should dress up a bit for an evening in a club. Anyone who tries to get into the clubs in a beach outfit or shorts will usually fail here. For those of you who don't like it so chic, there are numerous bars or pubs where you can enjoy the evening and celebrate without a dress code.
Since the hotel bars and clubs are the only places where alcohol is served, the drinks are a bit more expensive here than here. For a cocktail you have to calculate with 10 euros upwards. However, you can save if you order drinks at the hotel bar during happy hour. This usually takes place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The women among you should definitely be on the lookout for Ladies Nights. Pretty much every bar and club offers such an evening once a week, where the ladies get free drinks and discounts. But men can also save money when going out in Dubai. The best thing to do is to download the “The Entertainer” app. It costs the equivalent of around 100 euros, but if you use the app extensively on your vacation, you will quickly have these costs back. With the help of the app you can get free drinks in many bars and restaurants or if you buy four drinks you only have to pay three. Which offers the clubs, bars and restaurants put in the app is up to them. No matter what offer the bars put here, you can definitely save with the app! Most of the locals we met also use the app.
Our favorite bars in Dubai
The best app doesn't help if you're in the wrong bar. I have therefore listed my favorites for you, which you should definitely check out when you are in Dubai.
Level 43 Sky Lounge
The Level 43 Sky Lounge is more than 155 meters above the ground and offers you a fantastic view. From up here you can see the Burj Khalifa, the Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, the Dubai Mall and much more on a clear day. So the perfect place to take another look at the city and everything you've seen from above after a hard day's sightseeing. For the ladies among you, a visit during Ladies Night is especially worthwhile. But there are also some other happy hours where you can try good cocktails with jazz music in the background.
The Polynesian bar-restaurant combination Trader Vic`s is a well-known and popular chain that has been represented on the beach in Dubai since 2018. Like all restaurants in the chain, the decor here is Polynesian-style. There are masks from Papua New Guinea, Tiki statues and much more that will transport you into a kind of vacation from vacation. The great thing about this is: You can spend the whole evening at Trader Vic’s! First eat something delicious in the restaurant, then you have a cocktail or two on the terrace and enjoy the sea view and then you turn night into day on the dance floor.
Pure Sky Lounge
You can get one of the most spectacular views of Dubai from the Pure Sky Lounge, which is located on the 35th floor of the Hilton on JBR. From here, with a drink in hand, you can admire The Palm Jumeirah, JBR and the beach. Opposite you is a big Ferris wheel, which is great for photos, as my colleague Simone and I have noticed. But of course there is not only something for the eye, but also something for the palate. Don't miss out on the incredibly delicious cocktails like the Coco Loco!
The Irish Village
Every major city has an Irish pub - it's no different in Dubai! The Irish Village was even named Pub of the Year. Rightly so, because pub lovers can feel at home here! The traditional Irish beers, typical Irish food and a quaint ambience attract many visitors. Due to the daily live music and the sports broadcasts, the atmosphere in The Irish Village is very cheerful and friendly.
Do you want something a little more exclusive? Then you are at the right place in the Rooftop Bar 40 Kong! The bar impresses with its cool and modern look. Here you can enjoy your drink surrounded by green walls and with a fantastic view of the Dubai skyline. To get a place with a good view, you should be early, because the coveted places are quickly gone. Like the bar itself, you should also dress up a bit, because elegance is very important here. Despite the exclusive ambience, fun is not neglected here: there is loud music and you can dance the night away without any problems!
Celebrating by the sea: these are the best locations
What could be nicer than ending the evening with a cocktail in hand and a view of the sea while on vacation? Since it is warm enough in Dubai every evening to sit outside with a T-shirt on, you should definitely not miss this pleasure! The best places for a cozy evening by the sea can be found here.
Dhow dinner cruise
The best way to celebrate is with a full stomach! Therefore, you should first feast before your long party night. If you love the sea, you should take part in a Dhow Dinner Cruise during your vacation. Here you make a two-hour trip on a traditional boat and drive through the Dubai Marina or Dubai Creek. My colleagues and I were out in the Dubai Marina one evening and enjoyed the many lights of the mega-metropolis from a different angle over delicious food. We were able to feast our way through Arabic, European and American cuisine at the buffet.
Barasti Beach Bar
Those who prefer to sit by the sea and enjoy the sun are in the right place at the Barasti Beach Bar. In contrast to many other bars in Dubai, you don't have to be particularly fussy here, but are allowed to go in as you feel most comfortable. There is a very relaxed, tolerant atmosphere in the bar where you will immediately feel at home. When it gets cooler in the evening, the sand is chosen as the dance floor and you can dance to the music of hip DJs here. Incidentally, the bar is one of the oldest in Dubai and has now developed into a bar where you end up after a long night of partying. So it's best to plan your visit in the second half of the evening.
By the way, Barasti Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubai. You can find more top beaches in this post.
Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE
The Beach Bar Blue Marlin Ibiza is located between Dubai and the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi - a cozy lounge bar where you can marvel at the sunset on comfortable beach chairs. From here you have a great view of the Burj Al Arab. In addition to the great view, the Blue Marlin Ibiza has a beautiful infinity pool where you can cool off. By the way, the best time to visit Blue Marlin Ibiza is on Fridays, after the brunch that is so typical for Dubai. Then the atmosphere in the Beach Bar is particularly lively - perhaps also due to the offer of two drinks for the price of one.
In Dubai there are many bars and restaurants that score with a fantastic view of the sea. But none of them offers as much sea as the 360 °. The circular bar is located in the middle of the sea and is only connected to the beach via a jetty, so that you are only surrounded by water. To get the most out of this view, you should be there shortly before sunset. Sit in the comfortable sofas and watch the sun go down! In the late evening the chill mood changes and it becomes more exuberant when the dance floor is opened!
