The creation of the world

Gen 1.1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth;Gen 1,2but the earth was desolate and confused, darkness lay over the primordial flood and God's spirit hovered over the water.Gen 1.3God said: Let there be light. And there was light.Gen 1,4God saw that the light was good. God separated light from darknessGen 1.5and God called the light day and the darkness he called night. It was evening and there was morning: the first day.Gen 1.6Then God said: Let a vault arise in the middle of the water and separate water from water.Gen 1.7So God made the vault and separated the water below the vault from the water above the vault. So it happenedGen 1.8and God called the vault heaven. It was evening and there was morning: the second day.Gen 1.9Then God said: Let the water below the sky gather in one place so that the dryness may be seen. So it happened.Gen 1.10God called the dry land and the accumulated water he called the sea. God saw, it was good.Gen 1.11Then God said: Let the land grow young greenery, all kinds of plants that bear seeds, and trees that bear fruit on the earth with their seeds in them. So it happened.Gen 1.12The land produced young greenery, all kinds of plants that bear seeds, all kinds of trees that bear fruit with their seeds in them. God saw, it was good.Gen 1.13It was evening and there was morning: the third day.Gen 1.14Then God said, There shall be lights in the vault of heaven to separate day and night. They are to be signs and serve to determine festive times, days and years;Gen 1.15they are said to be lights in the vault of heaven that shine over the earth. So it happened.Gen 1.16God made the two great lights, the larger one that rules over the day, the smaller one that rules over the night, including the stars.Gen 1.17God put the lights on the heavens so that they shine over the earth,Gen 1.18rule over day and night and separate light from darkness. God saw, it was good.Gen 1.19It was evening and there was morning: the fourth day.Gen 1.20Then God said: The water is teeming with living beings, and birds are to fly over the land in the heavens.Gen 1.21God created all sorts of large sea animals and other living things that teem in the water, and all sorts of feathered birds. God saw, it was good.Gen 1.22God blessed them and said, Be fruitful and multiply and populate the waters of the sea and let the birds multiply on the land.Gen 1.23It was evening and there was morning: the fifth day.Gen 1.24Then God said: Let the land produce all kinds of living things, cattle, reptiles and animals of the field. So it happened.Gen 1.25God made all kinds of animals of the field, all kinds of livestock, and all kinds of reptiles on the ground. God saw, it was good.Gen 1.26Then God said: Let us make people in our image, like us. They are to rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, over cattle, over the whole earth and over all reptiles on the land.Gen 1.27So God created man in his image; he created him in the image of God. He created them male and female.Gen 1.28God blessed them and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, populate the earth, submit to it and rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky and over all animals that move on the land.Gen 1.29Then God said, I hereby give you all the plants in all the earth that bear seeds, and all the trees with seed-bearing fruits. They should serve you as nourishment.Gen 1.30I give all green plants for food to all the animals of the field, all the birds in the sky and everything that stirs on the earth, which has the breath of life in it. So it happened.Gen 1.31God saw everything he had done: it was very good. It was evening and there was morning: the sixth day.
