With SEO Authority (German: SEO Authority) describes the relevance and weighting of a website in relation to a search engine query. Authority domains often have many backlinks and therefore good rankings in the search engines.

OffPage Authority

The OffPage Authority can be charged for a domain or a URL. The higher the authority, the better keyword rankings seem to be possible in the organic search results. How Google calculates the authority is not known.

Popular metrics for determining the OffPage Authority are moz Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA), Majestic Citation Flow (CF) and Trust Flow (TF), ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) and URL Rating (UR), ... In addition, the authority of a domain or URL can also be through Compare the backlinks (Domain Popularity) of a domain / URL and strong competitors can be roughly determined. A positive influence from backlinks from authority domains - i.e. domains that have been given a high level of trustworthiness by Google (such as university websites, state-owned companies, public institutions, popular brands) - is also almost undisputed.

OnPage Authority

Obviously, OnPage optimizations can also make a positive contribution to a high SEO authority, such as:

  • Meaningful page title (meta title)
  • Headings with relevant keywords for the page topic
  • Easy to use thanks to a clear website architecture
  • Helpful internal link structure in the core content of the page as well as in the supplementary content
  • High degree of optimization of images

At this point, reference is made to the Google Quality Rater Guidelines. Their contents indicate that the quality of the core content for a search query but also the expertise of the authors of a domain have a positive effect on the authority and trustworthiness (E-A-T formula).
