Ingredients and preparation of grandmother's terrace cookies

The ingredients for 30 cookies

  • 375 grams of flour
  • 250 g butter
  • 125 g sugar, optionally 1 egg,
  • Jam z. B. from raspberries, powdered sugar for dusting
  • 3 serrated round cutters in 3 sizes

The preparation of terraces: Flour, butter and sugar are chopped up with a large knife until the ingredients combine to form a dough. This is then kneaded well and then placed in the refrigerator for an hour. An egg makes the dough more homogeneous and pliable. The dough for the terraces is rolled out ½ - 1 cm thick, depending on your taste. Cut out each size one after the other and the Bake Christmas cookies at 200 degrees. Put jam on the cookies that are still hot - layer on top of the large and medium-sized cookies and let cool down on a wire rack. Finally dust lightly with powdered sugar.

Wonderful Christmas cookies: gingerbread cookies are a must

Christmas baking and beautiful winter days without gingerbread, that's not possible. Conny Marx recommends the following recipe for gingerbread.

Ingredients for gingerbread recipe

  • 500 g honey, preferably fresh from the beekeeper
  • 375 grams of sugar
  • 1 kg of flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon clove powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 60 g each of orange peel and lemon peel
  • 250 g of chopped almonds
  • 5 - 10 g deer horn salt or 5 g potash,
  • dissolved in 1 cl schnapps

Bring honey with 125 g sugar to the boil, allow to cool a little and add 625 g sifted flour until a solid mass is formed. In the meantime, when the honey mixture has cooled, stir the 3 eggs with 250 g sugar until frothy. Stir in the clove powder, cinnamon, orange peel and lemon peel as well as 250 g flour. Caramelize the almonds with a little sugar, let cool and add to the egg mixture. Add the dissolved potash or the deer horn salt and mix everything well. Then both doughs are kneaded together and by hand until a homogeneous, firm dough is formed. Divide this into two parts, dust with sufficient flour and roll out about finger thick. Bake at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Check the degree of browning.

Who one Gingerbread witch house If you want to tinker with these Christmas cookies or want to cut beautiful triangles or squares, bake the dough as a whole and then cut the desired shapes out of the gingerbread. The dough can also be cut out, for example with a large glass.
