Have female companions sexually transmitted diseases

Your check-up

At the beginning of our appointment there is a detailed discussion. Because you are the best expert for your body. Your observations, your sensations and your health history are crucial for all aspects of evaluation, diagnosis and therapy.

The investigation itself comprises the following steps:

  • By examining the labia, vagina and external cervix, I can identify signs of discharge, bacteria or other causes of infection and inflammation, and if necessary, I can take samples.
  • Then I do the so-called preventive smear for early cancer detection and examine your urine sample.
  • With the colposcope - this is a strong magnifying glass - I check the cervix and cervix for changes in the mucosal areas. If necessary, I take small tissue samples.
  • During the palpation examination, I assess the position, size, shape, consistency and mobility of the uterus. I can also examine the fallopian tubes and ovaries in this way.
  • The vaginal ultrasound enables the visual assessment of the condition of the uterus, uterine lining, ovaries and also an early pregnancy.
  • When I examine your breast, I will check the tissue for lumps or indurations. I would also be happy to show you how you can properly scan this area yourself in order to contribute to additional preventive care between routine examinations.

Following the examination, we will take another time for a detailed discussion. We'll discuss if there are any further steps to be taken and make sure you have all the information you want. The results of laboratory tests are usually available within a few days.

First love, great feelings. And often - even today - great uncertainty.

Maybe the first love is a long time coming. Nevertheless, girls ask themselves many questions on the way to being a woman. Because: Even if the general knowledge about sexuality and the changes in the body is quite large, “applying” this knowledge to your own body and your own physical experience is not always easy - and sometimes it does not make sense either. We are all special in our own way.

An open conversation about body observations and body sensations, about pleasure and displeasure, sexuality, contraception, communicable diseases and self-determination needs an appropriate atmosphere. Creating this atmosphere of trust is my main concern. Because being a woman is beautiful - when we feel safe and can show ourselves the understanding we need.

We will discuss whether an examination should be part of the appointment during the first visit. Maybe it's just the conversation that's important at the moment. If complaints are the reason for the appointment - pain during the bleeding, pain in the genital area, an irregular cycle ... - then we will clarify the causes. Of course, with a detailed explanation and with great sensitivity.

An accompanying person is also welcome to be present during our conversation and the examination - according to your wishes.

Practically every woman knows them, if not from herself, then from a friend or family member: menstrual cycle problems, menstrual pain, bleeding disorders.

A woman's cycle is generally around 28 days. But its length can be very individual. In the first few years of menstruation, it often takes some time for the cycle to stabilize and for ovulation to become regular. Even after taking the pill for a long time and during the years of switching, irregularities are quite common.

If menstruation has not started by the age of 16, this menstrual cycle disorder has its own name. We gynecologists then speak of primary amenorrhea. Their cause can be hereditary, but they can also have other causes. Clarification is definitely recommended.

Menstrual cycle symptoms can relate to the regularity of the cycle and the amount of bleeding. Pain, intermenstrual bleeding and recurring physical and psychological complaints before the bleeding - the so-called premenstrual syndrome (PMS) - are also relatively common. In addition to hormonal disorders and imbalances, gynecological diseases can be the cause of the complaints.

Recurrent severe menstrual pain can be caused by endometriosis. The reason for menstrual disorders can be fibroids, they can be seen well on ultrasound. So don't just accept pain and menstrual cycle disorders. With a detailed anamnesis and examination, we get to the bottom of the causes of your complaints. In this way we find the right ways to alleviate and heal together.

Acupuncture and TCM herbal therapy are also very good options for treating menstrual disorders and menstrual disorders.

Acute or recurring urinary tract or vaginal infections can significantly reduce a woman's wellbeing - with negative effects on her sexuality as well. It is therefore important to take remedial action by giving advice on causes and effects, as well as the possibilities to prevent. We take the time to do this in our conversation.

In general, infections and sexually transmitted diseases can be “acquired” in a number of ways, not just through sexual intercourse. The first step in the event of signs or suspicions of infection is a diagnostic evaluation. This is a great way to ensure that you are dealing with symptoms with the right therapeutic approach.

You can protect yourself against HPV infection with an effective vaccination.

The HPV vaccination is an effective protection against infection with the widespread types of the human papilloma virus.

Over 80 percent of all women become infected with HPV at least once in their life. The infection usually proceeds without noticeable symptoms and very often the infection heals unnoticed. However, it can also remain chronically in the body without being noticed. The infection is often only detected after years through changes in the cervix, the vagina or the external genital or anal region.

There are more than 100 different types of papillomavirus. Low-risk types are responsible for what are known as genital warts (condylomas). These tissue changes are benign, but they can be very uncomfortable and they are contagious. Risky HP viruses pose a higher, long-term risk to your health. These types of HPV can lead to precancerous lesions and cancer in both women and men.

The infection occurs during sexual intercourse and is very common because HPV infections are very common. Research has shown that almost 100 percent of cervical cancers are caused by HPV infection.

An effective vaccine against HPV has been available since 2006. Over 75 million vaccine doses have now been given worldwide, with proven high success and very good tolerability.

In Austria, the HPV vaccination has been part of the school vaccination program for girls and boys since August 2013. The Austrian Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics recommends vaccination between the ages of 9 and 12 (vaccination is free at this age) and up to the age of 26. A vaccination can also be useful later.

I would be happy to inform you about all the connections and the costs of an HPV vaccination. If you want prevention, I will vaccinate you during your appointment. You don't have to bring the vaccine, Gardasil 9, with you, you can get it from me.

Bladder weakness, also known as urinary incontinence, can have various causes. Above all, it is more common than many think. And: no need to be ashamed. The uncontrolled leakage of urine is a result of physical causes that can usually be remedied very easily. Talk to me if you notice that you have weak bladder. There are many ways of treatment. Together we will find the right one for you.

Urinary incontinence is particularly common after several pregnancies. The bladder sphincter and pelvic floor are weakened. A sudden increase in pressure in the abdomen - when sneezing, laughing, coughing or lifting heavy loads - can lead to urine leakage. In the years of transition, the bladder weakness may be due to the hormonal change. Because it means that the tissue loses its elasticity.

The weakness of the connective tissue can also cause the uterus to sag. Common symptoms that indicate a depression are a feeling of foreign body and / or pressure "downwards", abdominal and back pain, pain during sexual intercourse and - as described above - involuntary leakage of urine, especially during exercise, coughing or sneezing.

With the right treatment, those affected quickly regain a great deal of joie de vivre and independence. Targeted pelvic floor training often leads to good results. That's why I work closely with physiotherapists who specialize in strengthening the pelvic floor. Surgical tightening can also be a suitable option to alleviate unpleasant symptoms. Together we will find out which of the therapy options is the right one for you.

The hormonal changes in the female body during menopause are experienced differently by every woman. From symptom-free to effects that are felt to be very stressful - all nuances occur. In addition, every woman experiences different phases of adjustment to the lower hormone production in her body.

The greatest burden is a feeling of powerlessness in the face of discomfort. And that doesn't have to be the case. Because there are different starting points that have a supportive and soothing effect. These can be hormone replacement therapies, but also natural measures such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy (TCM), which are particularly effective in relieving menopausal symptoms.

For most women, menopause begins around the age of 50. In the years before, the production of the hormones estrogen and pro-estrogen had already decreased continuously. This “upstream” phase is called the premenopause. By taking a blood test to determine your hormone status, I can determine what phase of the hormone change you are currently in.

If women report unpleasant symptoms during the hormone change, then the following symptoms are often the following, often in combination:

  • Nervousness and irritability
  • depressive moods
  • Loss of performance, exhaustion
  • decreasing libido
  • Hot flashes and sweats
  • Problems falling and staying asleep
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Hair loss
  • Fluctuations in blood pressure, racing heart
  • dry skin, mucous membranes and eyes

No matter what changes you observe in yourself, please assume that there are also options for relief and therapy for you.
